Chronic wounds are characterized by persistent inflammation and impaired tissue regeneration and remain inadequately addressed by current therapies.

This talk explores aerogel formulations based on natural polymers such as silk fibroin, sericin, and alginate as multifunctional biomaterials for wound management.

Produced by supercritical CO₂ technology, these highly porous structures combine exudate absorption, intrinsic bioactivity and the capacity to deliver therapeutic agents, offering a sustainable strategy to support healing and regeneration across the different phases of wound repair.
