Masterclass "Paving the way for Autism Spectrum Disorder"
Wednesday, November 27, 2024 - 12:00 - Wednesday, November 27, 2024 - 14:00
Sala 121 | Faculdade de Ciências Humanas | UCP | Lisboa - Sede
The second masterclass, entitled ‘Opening up paths in Autism Spectrum Disorder’, with the FCH Alumni Hub label, will take place on 27 November at 18:30.
It is estimated that around 1 in 100 children in Portugal is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Although scientific progress over the last few decades has allowed us to make great strides in understanding ASD, there is currently no cure for this disorder. With the new era of artificial intelligence, new and promising therapies are emerging that seek to improve the quality of life and well-being of people with this diagnosis. This masterclass seeks to combine Psychology, Neuroscience and Artificial Intelligence, leveraging each to build a better and more inclusive future!
It will be led by Maria Pires Coelho ('21), who has a degree in Psychology from the Faculty of Human Sciences and a Master's degree in Neuropsychology from the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. She is currently doing her PhD in Health Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology, where she collaborates with the Coimbra Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Translational Research. She is a Junior Psychologist of the Portuguese Psychologists' Association.
All Psychology students and alumni are invited to attend.
Sign up by 12 pm on November 25th.
