As part of the launch of the new Undergraduate Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, the first in Portugal to combine these three areas of study, the Faculdade de Ciências Humanas (FCH) of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa is organising an online session to present the programme, which will take place on May 5, from 2.30 p.m.
"Intersecting Philosophy, Politics and Economics" is the theme of the session where this innovative and interdisciplinary course will be presented for the first time, allowing students to gain a broad and integrative approach to the challenges facing contemporary societies.
The event will be opened by Professor Nelson Ribeiro, Dean of FCH, followed by a presentation by Professors Michael Baum and Inês Bolinhas, Undergraduate Coordinators, who will present the theme "Crossing Knowledge: Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE)".
The session will also feature three renowned speakers: Vítor Bento (Chairman of the Board of Directors of SIBS and alumnus of the Master in Philosophy at FCH), Robert Sherman (Former US Ambassador in Portugal) and Pedro Amaral (Associate Professor at California State University, Fullerton and alumnus of the Undergraduate Degree in Economics at UCP) who will talk about the intersection of the three areas and the crucial importance that this training may have in the future of professionals and the labour market in the most diverse national and international organisations.
The event will take place on the Zoom platform and registration is now open.
