"We are made of words. With them we give meaning to the days, we name and mean the world, we narrate our past, we project and anticipate futures, we try to control time, we open cracks in reality.
To be born is to be thrown into a tangle of words, into a web of many stories: the ones parents tell us when they fall asleep, the founding myths of the culture to which we belong, the books we read, the films that have marked us, the songs that accompany us... And these words that precede, sustain and build us are ambiguous, poor, fragile.
In our image - or we in their image. Capable of giving life or death. To reconnect or to split. To be noise or silence - and happy those who can say, like António Ramos Rosa, "I hear in the word the feast of silence. [...] If in the beginning it was the Logos, and that Word was made flesh, then flesh must also be made word. To say, to write. But what relationship do we still have with the language in a time of iconocracy? What is the role of discourse today, when images prevail? Where will the word still resound?"
