Católica organizes the Science Communication Course "Feedbacking science: How Feedback Develops Your Scientific Communication" on November 24, 2026, within the Transform4Europe Alliance.
About the course
Feedback is more than correcting writing. It is a communicative and relational practice that helps researchers understand how their scientific ideas are received and how their texts can communicate more effectively.
This course explores how to make feedback an intentional and constructive part of scientific writing. Participants will experiment with different ways of requesting, giving, receiving and integrating feedback, while learning to distinguish between responses to a text's ideas and structure and its stylistic, experiential and emotional dimensions.
The course encourages participants to reflect on what kind of feedback they need at different stages of writing, how to interpret it critically and how to make informed decisions about revision without losing their own voice and authorship.
Core competence
Giving, receiving and integrating feedback as a tool for developing clearer and more effective scientific communication.
Skills and competences developed
By the end of the course, participants will have developed skills in:
- Identifying different types and purposes of feedback on scientific texts.
- Formulating specific and effective requests for feedback.
- Providing constructive, actionable feedback on scientific writing.
- Critically interpreting and prioritising feedback received.
- Integrating feedback into the revision process to improve the clarity, structure and communicative effectiveness of scientific texts.
Basic requirements
Participants should have some experience with scientific writing and be currently engaged in research. No previous formal training in academic writing is required.
