Exhibition of the John Paul II Library: Dominicans and Franciscans - 800 Years

As we begin the academic year, the João Paulo II University Library’s opening event will be dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the Dominican and Franciscan Orders that emerged in the 13th century. Grounded on the apostolate of prayer and preaching of the Gospel, they are responsible for evangelising populations in order to mitigate and counteract the proliferation of the Cathar and Albigensian religious movements.

These mendicant orders focused their efforts on service to others, and particularly to the poor, adopting a life of self-denial, renunciation and poverty.
