On January 7, 2026, the Universidade Católica Portuguesa presents the exhibition “Hannah Arendt: 50/80”, an initiative dedicated to the memory of the life and work of one of the most influential political thinkers of the 20th century.
This exhibition, developed by Bernardo Freitas in collaboration with the João Paulo II University Library, is the result of his master's thesis in Political Science and International Relations, which is dedicated to the work and intellectual legacy of Hannah Arendt.
Marking both the 50th anniversary of the author's death and the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, this exhibition provides a historical and conceptual framework for Hannah Arendt's thinking, which was deeply marked by that conflict. Through various documentary sources, it addresses her biography and central concepts such as The Human Condition, Modernity, Totalitarianism, and The Banality of Evil, constituting a space for reflection, debate, and homage, accessible to both specialists and new readers of her work.
The exhibition is open to the entire academic community and the general public until February 28, 2026.
