The Ethics Committee of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa is organising the seminar "Ethics and Integrity in Research", with Mara de Sousa Freitas, Director of the Institute of Bioethics and William Hasselberger, Director of the Digital Ethics Laboratory (LED), as speakers.
The event will take place online on 6 February at 14h00.
"What are the basic principles of integrity that should inform education, teaching and research?", "How can we guide students and researchers towards a moral commitment to ethics, transparency and rigour?", and "What are the ethical challenges posed by new technologies applied to teaching and research and how can we answer them for more and better science?" are some of the guiding questions of this seminar
Scientific knowledge at the service of society implies an understanding of “the interpretation of the values and principles that govern research” and especially how it can be affected by “social, political or technological developments, as well as changes in the research environment” (ALLEA, 2023).
