Auditório Padre José Bacelar e Oliveira | UCP | Lisboa - Sede
The Research Centre of the Institute for Political Studies is organising Digital Afterlives: AI, Memory, Mourning, an international conference that brings together distinguished researchers and scholars to discuss the emergence of ghostbots — robots that simulate deceased persons — and the ethical and religious dilemmas raised by this technology.
This interdisciplinary meeting invites a critical reflection on the role of mourning and grief in the pursuit of a meaningful life, questioning what the proper role of technology should be in contemporary grieving processes.
With contributions from experts from institutions such as Duke University, the University of Chicago, the University of Oslo, the University of Turin, and the University of Notre Dame, the conference will take place across three panels throughout the day. The conference will also feature the participation of the President, Isabel Capeloa Gil, and D. Alexandre Palma.
The conference will be conducted entirely in English.
Registration is mandatory by 8 October REGISTRATIONS.
