Conference ‘Between Two Jubilees: 2000-2025’

A conference entitled ‘Between Two Jubilees: 2000-2025’ will be held on 25 October as part of the annual General Assembly of the Scientific Society of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

The event, which starts at 4.30pm in the Exhibition Room on the 2nd floor of the Library Building on the Lisbon campus, will be presented by Cardinal Manuel Clemente and will provide a unique opportunity to reflect on the meaning and relevance of the jubilees that mark important moments in the history of the Church.

The event is open to the public and does not require prior registration.


Cardinal Manuel Clemente is Patriarch Emeritus of Lisbon, having previously served as Bishop of Porto and Auxiliary Bishop of Lisbon. He has a doctorate in Historical Theology from the Portuguese Catholic University and degrees in Theology from the Faculty of Theology of the UCP, and in History from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon.

Cardinal Manuel Clemente was Magnificent Chancellor and President of the Superior Council of the Portuguese Catholic University. In addition to his vast academic work, which includes publications on History and Theology, he has played an active role in the Portuguese Bishops' Conference, contributing significantly to the pastoral care of culture and social communications.

Cardinal Manuel Clemente was awarded the Pessoa Prize in 2009 and has received the Medal of Honour from various municipalities in Portugal.
