The Centre of Religious History Studies of the Universidade Católica is organising the Colloquium "Regnum Hispaniae ab antiquo proprii iuris sancti Petri fuisse: Relations between the Papacy and the Iberian Peninsula (11th-13th centuries)", from 10 to 11 November.

The colloquium proposes a revisiting of the 11th and 13th centuries, during which the major lines of force that guided the permanent construction and reconstruction of the various European identities were developed. One of the greatest examples is the affirmation of the Roman Papacy and the multiple consequences that resulted from it on the ecclesiastical and lay institutions of Latin Christianity.

In this sense, the study of particular cases has allowed to reconstruct and evaluate the flow of relations that were gradually established between the Roman Curia and several states of the European 'periphery'.

The event will focus on this theme, largely developed within the project "RAP - Sub beati Petri et nostra protectione suscipimus: Re-framing the relations between Rome and the kingdoms of Portugal and Aragon (eleventh-thirteenth centuries)", developed with the support of a Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant.
