The Research Centre for Human Development is organising a lecture on ‘Civic and Citizenship Education and Education for Sustainable Development: From Teacher Training Programmes to the School as a Democratic Learning Environment’ on 21 May at 14h00.
Speaker: Marco Valerio
Description:
In this Learning Coffee, Marco Valerio will present his work through a talk focusing on two research projects in which he is currently involved:
- His PhD research titled Learning to Teach Civic and Citizenship Education and Education for Sustainable Development During Pre-service Teacher Training.
- The PRIN (Projects of significant national interest) research titled The School as a Democratic Learning Environment: Promoting Civic and Citizenship Education through the Whole-School Approach in Primary and Lower Secondary Education.
Both projects address key educational challenges of our time. They aim to strengthen the role of education in shaping active citizens who are capable of engaging with complex global issues such as sustainability and democracy. By focusing on teacher training and school practices, the research projects contribute to rethinking how educational systems can support civic responsibility and democratic engagement from the earliest stages of schooling.
NOTE: This Learning Coffee will be held in English.
