Católica Nursing Talk - "Cuidador informal: visão de uma equipa multidisciplinar"

Friday, June 14, 2024 - 16:00

Formato Híbrido | UCP | Centro Regional do Porto

The Nursing School (Porto) of the Portuguese Catholic University has been organising a series of seminars throughout the academic year as part of ‘Católica Nursing Talk’, aimed at promoting the discussion of relevant issues in the field of health.

We know that caring for a sick family member is a prevalent reality, but it is also a challenge for the carer, the person being cared for and Portuguese society. It's a role that requires the development of skills and that is undertaken 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, over several years, often in the face of invisibility from the family, the community, health professionals and public health measures.

Several questions arise, such as "What challenges are associated with the role of informal carer?’, ‘What resources are available and can be used by nurses to plan and implement personalised, effective and efficient responses?’, ‘What does the evidence say about the challenges ahead?".

These and many other questions will be answered

In this Nursing Talk, in a multidisciplinary dialogue that integrates the health and social fields and gives a voice to the informal carer, the challenges and opportunities of the future will be uncovered.
