On July 9, the Universidade Católica Portuguesa is hosting a session promoted by the Global Federation of Competitiveness Councils (GFCC), as part of the international programme ‘Lisbon Study Trip: University and City as Catalysts for Innovation and Global Growth’.
The meeting will be attended by the President of UCP, Isabel Capeloa Gil, as well as vice-rectors, teachers and researchers from the institution.
The session will explore how Portugal - and Lisbon in particular - is consolidating its position as a global centre for innovation. It will also delve into the vital role of universities in promoting entrepreneurship and analyse how Lisbon's innovation ecosystem connects with international networks.
The Universidade Católica Portuguesa, as a GFCC partner, is also organising the entire programme for the four-day visit to Lisbon, which brings together academic, business and political leaders from various geographies and areas of knowledge.
The event is part of the ongoing efforts of the GFCC University and Research Leadership Forum (URLF) and its recent ‘Leadership in Place-making Innovation’ initiative, which highlights the role of universities in transforming their communities and territories.
In addition to the session at Universidade Católica, the GFCC programme includes visits to leading institutions on the national innovation scene, such as the Champalimaud Foundation, Unicorn Factory Lisboa, Diverge and Siemens Portugal, reinforcing the dialogue between academia, industry and the public sector.
The GFCC, founded in 2010, brings together business leaders, academics and political decision-makers from all over the world, with the aim of fostering innovation, competitiveness and sustainable development.
