Book Launch "Plagues and Epidemics: Interdisciplinary Studies in Humanities"

On June 8, at 11am, the book "Plagues and Epidemics: Interdisciplinary Studies in Humanities", co-authored by Mário Franco Barros, researcher at the Research Centre for Communication and Culture, Faculty of Human Sciences, UCP, Joaquim Pinheiro and Samuel Mateus, will be presented.

Ivo Furtado will present the work, which brings together sixteen studies on different eras, analysing the capacity to react, resist and overcome the various illnesses that accompany the development of human societies. Besides contributing to the knowledge of the influence of plagues and epidemics on culture and society, the book allows for an interdisciplinary reflection on human understanding about the causes and consequences of these outbreaks.
