Alexis de Tocqueville Lecture 2020

The Instituto de Estudos Políticos (IEP) organises, every year, the Alexis de Tocqueville Annual Lecture. This year, under the theme "The Crisis of Liberal Democracy: Meeting the Challenges of Populism, Authoritarianism, and Complacency", the lecture will be presented by Larry Diamond, co-editor of the Journal of Democracy and Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution and the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies.

The event marks the ceremony of awarding diplomas and academic distinctions to IEP students and will take place on March 5 at 6 p.m. at the Cardeal Medeiros Auditorium (Library Building, Floor 1), followed by a dinner at the Marriott Hotel. Admission to the lecture is free, subject to prior registration.
