Universidade Católica Portuguesa reaffirms its support to GivingTuesday, a global solidarity movement that calls on the world to unite in giving back to social causes.

Celebrated intentionally on the first Tuesday after Black Friday and fueled by the power of social media and collaboration, GivingTuesday inspires millions of people around the world to give back to causes that are relevant to them.

UCP is organising a campaign to collect winter clothes for the Balneário de Alcântara, CASA - Centro de Apoio ao Sem-Abrigo and CEPAC - Centro Padre Alves Correia.

Items most needed: Coats, jumpers, fleeces, blankets (items must be delivered in a good state of repair and cleanliness).

Drop-off points: Social Responsibility Office, Chaplaincy, Student Association Offices, Old Building hall, CLSBE hall (floor 1).

Universidade Católica Portuguesa is once again joining the Food Bank Against Hunger's Food Collection Campaign. On December 1, 2 and 3, volunteers will be at the Continente Supermarket in the Colombo Shopping Centre collecting food to support Portuguese families in need.

The VIDA Project at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa is organising a Volunteers' Meeting on the topic of "Volunteering: the Commitment that Transforms" on December 5 at 5 pm.

On International Volunteer Day, volunteers from the VIDA Project - Volunteering at Católica University are invited to talk about the importance of commitment.

In this session, led by Rita Sacramento Monteiro, the volunteers will have the opportunity to reflect on their experiences and share the transformation that volunteering has brought to their lives.

The 2nd edition of the Solidarity Christmas Market takes place on 5 and 6 December, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the headquarters of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Lisbon.

As part of the "Somos lugar de encontro" Christmas Campaign, this event aims to present and raise funds for the partner organizations of the VIDA Project - Volunteering at Católica. At the market, you can find several items on sale: cookies, jam, Christmas hampers, handicrafts, books, children's games, and more.

UCP is organising a campaign to collect baby products that will be donated to Associação Apoio à Vida, Ajuda de Mãe and Ajuda de Berço.

Most needed items: 

  • Food: porridge, cereals, NAN 1 and 2 milk, Aptamil 1 and 2 milk, milk;
  • Clothes: blankets, terry towels;
  • Hygiene products: nappies 1 and 2, nappies 5 and 6, nappy changing cream, wipes, 10x10 pads (non-woven), Unidoses saline solution, bed covers (60x90 cm), child shampoo, child shower gel, child toothpaste;
  • Other: Bottles 0 months, Pacifiers 0 months, Breastfeeding discs, Disposable gloves S/M and L

The Christmas Mass will be presided over by the Grand Chancellor of the UCP, His Eminence D. Rui Valério, on December 14 at 12 noon in the Cardeal Medeiros Auditorium.
