From November 24th to 28th, Universidade Católica Portuguesa is promoting the 1st Edition of Sustainability Week, an initiative that aims to raise awareness among the academic community of the 4 campuses about the environmental and social challenges of our time. General activities that will take place over the 5 days
Collection of electronic equipment
Católica Viseu, in association with two local institutions, delivers the material collected in this campaign to the recycling point and receives monetary rewards in exchange, which will help with its internal projects and social causes.

Banco Alimentar Collection - Paper for food
Paper waste on campus can contribute to eradicating hunger and poverty by transforming paper into food.

Location: Lobby of the Teaching Building and Library
Collection of children's and young adult books
This initiative is linked to the UCP4SUCCESS and UCP2MentalHealth projects, which aim to promote academic success, well-being and inclusion through sustainable, participatory and socially responsible practices. The donation of books is therefore a concrete gesture of solidarity and reuse, encouraging the circular economy and the involvement of the academic community in causes with a real impact.

Exchange and donation market
This is an initiative that promotes sustainability, open to the entire academic community, allowing participants to exchange or simply donate items. Any remaining items from the market will be donated to the 2025 Christmas Campaign and delivered to selected institutions.

SustentaArte Competition - Waste as Inspiration
Competition aimed at students from the three areas of study at the Viseu Campus - Biomedical Sciences, Management and Dentistry - challenging students, teachers and staff to create artistic sculptures using materials considered ‘waste’ in their academic and professional context.
24 November: Delivery of Sculptures | 25 to 27 November: Exhibition of Sculptures | 27 November at 5.30 p.m.: Award ceremony

2:30 p.m.: Plant a tree
The planting of two trees in the garden. A chestnut tree, so that later the academic community can enjoy the chestnuts and share them with surrounding institutions. A pine tree donated by CIM Viseu Dão Lafões, as part of the Seeds of Social Innovation initiative, and the planting of a holly bush, a species protected in Portugal due to the risk of extinction caused by over-exploitation.

1:00 p.m. Opening of the Student Garden - T4EU
As part of the T4EU project, a sustainable garden will be created on each campi.

2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Dyslexia Screening
Many students arrive at higher education with undiagnosed dyslexia, especially if they have developed compensatory strategies throughout their lives. However, the demands of higher education (intensive reading, writing, complex interpretation) expose these difficulties more strongly. Promoting free dyslexia screening is a way of contributing to social and educational inclusion, combating inequalities in access to specialised support.

9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.: Seminar Pathways to Inclusion: Intervention with Homeless People
CLDS 5G Viseu Plural: Inclusive Itineraries, in partnership with the Municipality of Viseu and the Universidade Católica Portuguesa - Campus de Viseu, is organising the seminar ‘Paths to Inclusion: Intervention with Homeless People’. A day dedicated to learning, deconstructing and taking action, with the participation of experts and leading organisations such as ENIPSSA, Associação CAIS, Médicos do Mundo, CASA, Fundação ADFP and Associação VITAE.
