Peter Hanenberg 

Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Director of Católica Doctoral School (CADOS). PhD in Modern Languages and Literatures from the University of Bamberg, Germany, in 1993, since 2006 Associate Professor at FCH. From 1988 to 1995 assistant professor at the University of Bamberg and between 1995 and 2006 coordinator of German Studies at the Faculty of Letters of UCP in Viseu. President of the Portuguese German Studies Association (APEG) 2006-2010. Member of the Research Centre for Communication and Culture (CECC) which he coordinates since 2012. 2016-2019 Vice-dean of FCH. His research is dedicated to European literature and culture since the 16th century, the idea of Europe and its representation as well as the intersection of Cognitive Sciences and Culture Studies.

Isabel Braga da Cruz 

Isabel Braga da Cruz currently integrates the rector's team of the Portuguese Catholic University, as Pro-Rector responsible for the management of the Porto Regional Centre (2017-present). She was Executive Director of PortugalFoods - Agroindustrial Technology and Competitiveness Cluster: Health and Sustainability Food (2016-2017) and Executive Coordinator of the Knowledge Division at PortugalFoods (2010-2016). Throughout her career, she has developed numerous collaborations with the industry in the area of technology transfer and identification of technological and market opportunities, promoting partnerships between the industrial fabric and academia, with the objectives of promoting innovation, increasing the technology index and competitiveness of companies.

As an entrepreneur, she was a founding partner of two companies: WEDOTECH - Company of Ideas and Technologies, Ltd. (2006-2019) and WEDOEKO - Production and Marketing of Natural-based Products and Technologies, Ltd. (2015-2019).

Isabel Braga da Cruz holds a PhD in Biotechnology from the Portuguese Catholic University, in collaboration with Nestlé, Nestlé Research Centre (Lausanne, Switzerland) (2006). She also has a postgraduate degree in management from North Carolina State University and COTEC Portugal - COHITEC Program - "Turning Technologies into Business" (2004). She holds a Master's degree in Food Science and Engineering (curricular component) from the Portuguese Catholic University, School of Biotechnology (1996). She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Food Engineering from the Portuguese Catholic University, School of Biotechnology (1994).

Throughout her professional career, she has played an active role with the guardianship, business community, and academia, reflected in her participation as an expert and/or integrating consultative and scientific committees related to the Portuguese agri-food sector and innovation. She is a member of the Superior Council and the Financial Management Council of the Portuguese Catholic University. She is a member of the Advisory Committee of COTEC; of the APCER Advisory Committee; and the S3 NORTE Regional Innovation Council, as a representative of the Agroenvironmental Systems and Food platform, among other participations.

Alex Standen – The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) 

As Head, Academic Development, Alex Standen is responsible for the Eden Centre’s team of Academic Developers who deliver a wide and varied programme of events, workshops and programmes for all LSE staff who teach and support learning. The Academic Development team also work closely with academic departments to offer guidance and development in teaching and learning, curriculum enhancement, and assessment and feedback.

Alex Standen has a particular interest in developing supervisors, academic mentors and anyone who works one-to-one with students through coaching approaches and the development of positive research and teaching cultures. Recently, she has worked more extensively with educational leaders and is Co-Chair of the Education Career Track network and responsible for Eden Fellows, the Advance HE accredited scheme for all staff to gain professional recognition for their experience and expertise in higher education teaching and learning support.

Prior to joining the Eden Centre, Alex Standen worked for 8 years in UCL’s Arena Centre where she led a variety of academic development programmes. Before this, Alex Standen taught Italian and European Studies at the Universities of Birmingham and Auckland, having gained her doctorate in contemporary Italian literature.

Amanda Franco

Amanda Franco holds a doctorate in Education Sciences from the University of Minho, and a post-doctorate in Education Sciences from the University of Aveiro (CIDTFF - Centre for Didactics and Technology in Trainer Training). Her main research interests have been the promotion of critical thinking within the framework of professional development for higher education teachers.

Ana Oliveira

PhD in Social Work by Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Coordinates the Master in Social Work and the Post-Graduation of Evaluation in Programs and Social Projects, the Post-Graduation of Artistic Practices and Social Inclusion and the Post-Graduation Management of Projects in Cooperation for Development. Researcher at CRC-W, currently collaborates in the university research and extension project, financed by Porticus, “SfG Hub to address the needs of Catholic Organizations working with Children” - Developing a caring and protective culture using positive, child-centered approaches. Her main research interests are social innovation and social intervention, intervention with families and youth, theories for practice in Social Work and social and intercultural mediation. She is also consultant in the areas of planning, management and evaluation of programs and projects, territorial strategic planning, leadership and team management. She is author of several publications about intervention with young people, in the theories and practices of Social Work and in social and intercultural mediation.

Ângela Azevedo

Ângela Sá Azevedo is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences (FFCS) of the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP). She earned her PhD in Educational Psychology from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto in 2006. She also completed her Master's in Child Development and Education (Early Intervention) at the same institution in 1998. She holds a degree in Psychology from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra, earned in 1991.

She has extensive professional experience in Clinical Psychology and Educational Psychology, in which she coordinated a Psychopedagogical office dedicated to intervention for 25 years, in areas such as Career Development, Inclusive Education, Self-regulation, and Learning Motivation. She was awarded the Specialties of Educational Psychology (2016) and Clinical and Health Psychology (2019), as well as Advanced Specialties in Special Educational Needs (2016) and Vocational Psychology and Career Development (2016) by the College of Specialties of the Order of Portuguese Psychologists.

She has coordinated the Master's program in Educational Psychology at FFCS-UCP since 2008 and is a member of the Coordination Commission of the Degree in Psychology since 2020. She is also a member of the Scientific Council of the FFCS-UCP since 2008. She is a researcher at the Centre for Philosophical and Humanistic Studies (CEFH) of the UCP in the areas of Motivation, Self-regulation of Development and Learning, Pedagogical Relationship, Emotional and Psychosexual Development, Vocational and Career Development, and Inclusive Education. She has significant publications in the field of Educational Psychology.

Débora Campos 

Débora Campos holds a PhD degree in Biotechnology and Food Science and Engineering from UCP, since 2019. During this period, she had one long-term mission to IPROBIQ, Universidad de Rosario (Rosario, AR), and three short-term missions, at International Nanotechnology Lab (Braga, PT), at UC Davis (Ca, USA) and at Food Systems Lab, MIT (Mass, USA). Her background is in bio-based development of nanostructures to improve the nutritional and safety of food products. Her PhD related to 'Development and characterization of functional ingredients through the valorization of pineapple by-products' and was awarded for the R&D+i in the sustainability category at the Born from Knowledge (BfK) Idea Award and with a Letter of Commendation in recognition of her contribution on polyphenols and Health by the scientific committee of ICPH held in Japan. In 2019, she worked as a Post-Doc Researcher in the New Foods Department at AZTI (Bilbao, Spain), where she developed the H2020 project 'SMARTCHAIN', aiming to accelerate the short food supply chain, under the construction of robust business models and innovative practical solutions. Since 2020, she has been a Post-Doc Researcher at UCP working at The Biobased and Biomedical Products Lab, 1st under the MULTIBIOREFINERY project financially supported by FCT, studying composition and functional properties of food waste defining sustainable applications for industrial synergies. Currently, she is developing the H2020 project MIRACLE, in the development of exploitation plans and a robust business model, for the commercialization of the project outputs. Débora has 23 h-index (google academic), 49 research and reviews papers in peer-reviewed journals, 8 book chapters (1 from international collaboration) and more than 40 abstracts in (inter)national conferences. Author of a granted EU patent and co-author of 1 filled patent. She was the founder of the start-up AgroGrIN Tech (UCP Spin-off). She acquired competencies in tech transfer through intense participation in idea development and acceleration programs. She was selected by the EIT Food GFV¿2018 as a distinguishing PhD student and was selected for the 'EIT Food Innovator Fellowship' 2019 as a talent with creative and innovative potential, for a program training at Cambridge, UK. She was a team member of NANODAIRY, GastroCure project (national projects) and BiValBi, FODIAC and MediSmart (EU projects) and later on MIRACLE (EU project). Débora is a co-supervisor 3 PhD FCT grant students (2020-24), 1 PhD mobility student from Algeria and supervised 2 BSc students from Turkey. All of the aforenoted evidence reinforces the professional profile of Débora, as an international researcher, demonstrating high compromise with the work, excellency and especially with the collaborative works and showing excellent results.

Diana Soares 

Diana Soares, who received her doctorate in Education Sciences from the University of Minho in 2015 and has a background in Educational Psychology, is an invited Assistant Professor and a member of the 'Quality of Education' leadership team at the Faculty of Education and Psychology at the Portuguese Catholic University, and a researcher at the Centre for Human Development Research. She also conducts research activities at the Centre for Higher Education Policy Studies (CIPES).

She is involved in several projects on policies and educational practices in Higher and Non-Higher Education. She is the author and co-author of various national and international publications and participates as a speaker and trainer in congresses, conferences and training actions. She is a consultant in the field of Education, within the scope of the Service for the Improvement of Education (SAME FEP-UCP) and at the local and inter-municipal level of educational project management.

Filipe Daniel Martins

Filipe Martins is an Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and Researcher at the Research Centre for Human Development. He holds a PhD in Urban Anthropology from ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (2013), with the thesis " Among Project and Coexistence: being young in the periphery of Mindelo, Cape Verde ". He subsequently carried out post-doctoral studies in Education Sciences at the Catholic University of Portugal. He has been carrying out ethnographic research with young people in urban contexts in Cape Verde and Portugal, with a particular focus on educational trajectories, school inclusion and civic participation. He has collaborated in various socio-educational projects and organisations, both in Portugal and Cape Verde, in the areas of social inclusion, community development, education for citizenship and human rights and cultural diversity. He is currently coordinating a nationwide research project on the assessment of citizenship skills within a school context.

Filipe Santos

Filipe Santos is the Alfredo da Silva Professor of Social Innovation and Dean of CATÓLICA-LISBON since February 2019. He also holds the Chair Girl Move Academy for Innovation. He is Visiting Professor of Social Entrepreneurship at INSEAD, a School where he was a Professor of Entrepreneurship for 12 years between 2003 and 2014. At INSEAD, Professor Santos led ICE - INSEAD Centre for Entrepreneurship from 2009 to 2013 and was founder and Academic Director of the INSEAD Social Entrepreneurship Initiative from 2007 to 2014. Professor Santos has a degree in Economics and a Masters in Management & Strategy. He holds a Ph.D. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, with a focus on Entrepreneurship. He served as Chair of the Graduate Student Council of Stanford University, comprising 8000 graduate students, and was the recipient of the Lieberman Fellowship, an award recognizing outstanding scholarship and institutional contributions.

Professor Santos’ research has been published in top journals, received several international awards and has been cited more than 11000 times (Google Scholar). His work lies at the intersection of strategy, organization theory and entrepreneurship with a focus on the emerging field of social entrepreneurship and social innovation, hybrid organizations, impact investing and scaling impact. Professor Santos is co-author of the 2013 book “The Social Entrepreneur´s Guide to Changing the World”. As an educator, Professor Santos won the INSEAD GEMBA 2008 award for Outstanding Teacher in non-core Courses. He was finalist for this same award for the GEMBA 2009 and 2010 Classes and received the Dean’s commendation for Excellence in MBA teaching in 2010. He also received the EFMD 2012 award for best case in the Africa category with the Nuru Energy case series.

At CATÓLICA-LISBON, Filipe teaches social entrepreneurship, social innovation and impact investing courses. He is a regular keynote speaker and also mentors entrepreneurs and advises venture investors. As an entrepreneur in the social and public arenas, Professor Santos co-founded IES - Social Business School in 2009 and the Laboratory for Social Investment in 2013 (now called Maze-Decoding Impact). In 2015,

he founded and was the first President of Portugal Social Innovation, a government agency that aims to catalyse the social investment market in Portugal. The social innovation policy he helped design and implement is now considered a best practice in Europe.  Professor Santos was Board member and Chair of the European Venture Philanthropy Association (EVPA), member of the investment committee of the Social Innovation Fund (FIS), and a jury member of several international social innovation awards. He believes in contributing to an economic system aligned with the generation of impact and wellbeing, a system that leverages the entrepreneurial drive and search for purpose of all citizens. In September 2019 he won the global Social Innovation Thought Leader Award by the Schwab Foundation, a sister organization of the World Economic Forum, and was considered one of the world’s high impact researchers by Clarivate Analytics.

Frederico Fezas-Vital

Graduated in Law at Universidade Católica, he also studied Marketing Management at ISG, Project & Leadership Management at INSEAD, IESE e Heriot Watt and Positive Leadership at the UN University, in Costa Rica. In 2011 he attended the first ISEP (International Social Entrepreneurship Programme) in Portugal, a program promoted by IES-SBS (Social Business School), powered by INSEAD. Since then he was Bootcamp leader, Trainer and Mentor in more than 25 Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamps powered by IES-SBS. In 2017 he attended the first EVPA (European Venture Philanthropy Association) program for “Scaling Impact for Social Investors”, promoted by Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics.  After working as a lawyer for 3 years, he launched and managed a Private Banking Department in Bank BCP (1998 a 2002). In 2002 he started a series of projects and startups, in several different sectors (2002-2007). In 2007, he began looking for more purpose in his life, and founded Terra dos Sonhos (Land of Dreams), an NGO dedicated to working with the emotional health of children with life-threatening chronic diseases, children at risk and the elderly. In 2009 he received the Citizenship Award by Rádio Clube Português. In 2011 his Project was recognized as a High Potential Social Entrepreneurship Project by the Map of Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship, developed by IES-SBS and IPAV. In 2016 he started working with Ashoka Portugal, as the responsible for Education Programs and, in 2017, as Director of Changemaker Skills for Portugal. In Ashoka he launched the Changemaker Schools in Portugal as well as the MOU for prototyping the first Changemaker Learning Ecosystem in the world, together with OECD and the Global Change Leaders, with the support and facilitation of the Portuguese Government. Since November 2017, he is the CEO for Junior Achievement Portugal, the biggest organization in the world for Education in Entrepreneurship, with a global impact in more than 10 million students spanning 120 countries. He also has a stake at a consultancy and training company working with Social Innovation and Social Impact, through which he continues to increase the impact of people and organizations. Since January 2018, he is also a teaching assistant at CATÓLICA-LISBON on “Building Impact ventures” for master graduates supported by the Chair in Social Entrepreneurship and the first ever Social Entrepreneur in Residence at CATÓLICA-LISBON. Since 2011 he has been a mentor, trainer and bootcamp leader in social entrepreneurship working with IES and INSEAD in a methodology developed specifically for starting social projects. He is now leading social entrepreneurship bootcamps and seminars, together with Prof. Filipe Santos, at INSEAD for Executive Masters’ students, at the Fontainebleau Campus (Paris, France). He has been a key note speaker and invited to participate in several conferences and forums for the last 11 years, mostly related to social entrepreneurship, impact, sustainability, education and emotional health, in companies like Microsoft, McDonald’s, Johnson, Unit 4 and several others.  He describes himself as being passionate, obsessed with impact and positive change and a focused in doing more and better kind of person. He has an inner child who doesn’t let him rest but makes him laugh when everything gets complicated. A dreamer with his feet on the earth, he loves challenges and hates injustices.

J Cortez holds a PhD in Applied Biotechnology by De Montfort University, UK (1999). He worked at Nottingham Trent University from 1999-2008 on the use of enzymes to modulate thee properties of protein-based matrices. From 2008-12 he held a Ciência 2007 position at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, in the area of nanotechnology applications in biosensors and in textiles. His research involved collaboration with industry both in the UK and in Portugal, and the development of products and processes. In 2012, he became Head of INEB’s Technology Transfer Office, with responsibilities as International Projects Officer. At i3S, he was the Head of the Research Funding Office at i3S between 2017-19 and coordinated the RESOLVE Programme. Since May 2019 is the Research and Innovation Funding Advisor at CBQF/ESB. He has participated in European projects since FP4, and more recently on H2020-ICT-30: MIRACLE, H2020-Twinning: STARGATE and H2020-SFS-01: RADIANT.

João Pereira 

João Pereira is the Head of Innovation at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, as well as an Associate Professor at the Medical School, where he leads the Laboratory of Biostatistics. With a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico and a PhD in Brain Imaging from Cambridge University, he has worked in a range of fields, ranging from business consultancy at McKinsey & Company to political advisory in Science and Education at the Portuguese Parliament. He was also a Researcher in Biostatistics and Medical Imaging at the University of Coimbra before founding a diagnostics equipment company. Prior to joining UCP, he worked as Director and CFO of HeartGenetics, a genetic tests start-up, and oversaw its sale to an international laboratory.

Maria José Correia

Maria Correia obtained a PhD in Biology in the Doctoral Program in Biology - Ecology, Evolution and Behavior in 2001 from the City University of New York (recognized iby the Universidade do Algarve in Biology, in the specialty of Microbiology). She received the Master's degree in Biology in 1996 at the same institution (CUNY) and a Degree in Marine Biology and Fisheries in 1994 from the University do Algarve. She has been a professor at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa since April 2001 and is currently Associate Professor of UCP at the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Viseu, where she coordinates the first cycle of the Integrated Master's degree in Dental Medicine, where she teaches Molecular Genetics and Oral Microbiology.

She has been part of the Interdisciplinary Research Center in Health where she is a member of the SalivaTec laboratory. Her research interests include the ecology of the human microbiome and its relationship with the host. She develops research in the community with collaborations in the Senior Activity program of the municipality of Viseu and in partnership with the Association for Developmental Disorders and Autism (APPDA)-Viseu. She led the project "Molecular insights into Autism" as a user of European infrastructure networks and integrates several research projects focused on the use of saliva as a diagnostic and monitoring fluid.

Pedro Mateus 

In 1999, starts his work as Psychoeducator at Miguel Bombarda Hospital. At the same time, begins teaching as an assistant of ​​Clinical Pedagogy. In the hospital, he dedicated himself to Psychoeducation for people with severe mental illness and to Early Intervention in Psychosis, participating in a research project led by the University of Melbourne, after an internship at the Early Psychosis Prevention and Intervention Centre. In 2007, he started working in the National Coordination for Mental Health, at the Ministry of Health, in public health areas associated with the implementation of the National Mental Health Plan. He was part of the European Commission Group of Governmental Experts in mental health for 10 years and a similar group at WHO-Europe, starting his work at the Directorate-General for Health in 2012. In 2014, he completed his PhD in mental health and began his work as a professor at NOVA Medical School, teaching also at other universities, including the Catholic University of Portugal, King's College London and the University of Concepción, in Chile. In 2016 he participates, as a postdoc, in an ERC project at the London School of Economics and in 2021 joins the faculty at Católica Medical School, with the following roles:

Susana Costa e Silva 

Holding a doctorate in Marketing from University College Dublin, Ireland, a Master's degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics, University of Porto, and a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from the Portuguese Catholic University, she serves as an Associate Professor at the Portuguese Catholic University. Since 2018, she has been the director of the Master's in Management program and the Researcher at CEGE. She served as the head of the Marketing Department from 2007 to 2014. She co-authored The Business Case Roadmap trilogy (2018 and 2019), Portuguese in Macau (2019), International Marketing (2018), and Business Internationalisation and Networks (2003). She also has multiple co-authored books and book chapters published in Portugal, the UK, the USA, and Brazil. She has presented scientific papers at international conferences in the field of Marketing and International Business, and has publications in international journals in the same fields. She provides consulting in the area of Marketing and International Business. She is a member of the European International Business Academy, where she served as the National Representative for Portugal from 2013 to 2019. Since 2019, she has been the National Representative at the EMAC (European Marketing Academy) Conference. She has worked as a visiting professor at the University of Saint Joseph (Macau, China), the University of Wroclaw (Poland), and the Superior School of Advertising and Marketing in São Paulo (Brazil). She was an invited researcher at the University of Economics of Wroclaw, Poland (2018/2019).

Vítor Dinis – Pathena, Venture Capital

Vitor is Managing Partner, co-founder and Pathena’s CFO. Currently he serves as a non-executive board member of two Pathena fund investments, and he is observer in other boards.   He is a Portuguese national fluent in English and French with a working knowledge of Spanish. Vitor has a comprehensive experience and knowledge in corporate finance, cross-border transactions, business modelling & planning and business strategy. Vitor holds a degree in accounting and business management from Oporto Accounting Institute – Portugal.

Vitor started his career at Arthur Andersen in 1997 in the finance, accounting, and controllerships service line. In 2002 he joined Deloitte as a Manager. In 2003 he assumed the position of CFO at Enabler, a systems integrator firm focused on Oracle retail implementations. 

During his professional career, Vitor completed continuous training in several areas such as general management, tax, leadership, company valuation and M&A in different schools including Universidade Católica.

In 2006 Enabler was acquired by Wipro Technologies, Vitor took the role of Senior Manager of internal audit & risk management of Wipro’s european geography.
