Universidade Católica Portuguesa and Cisco announce partnership to drive innovation and build the Campus of the Future

Universidade Católica Portuguesa announces that tomorrow it will be signed its partnership with Cisco aimed at increasing the adoption of new and innovative technology on its Campus. The wide-ranging partnership between UCP and Cisco in Portugal will promote the development of  a new Smart Campus 4.0, including an Innovation Centre, integrating the Cisco’s developer programme DevNet and the Cisco Networking Academy for digital competences. 
 
The aim of the partnership is to promote the collaboration and creation of joint programs on research and innovation, connecting UCP's prominent scientific community with Cisco’s Research & Development programme, creating value for both parties. 
 
The central feature of the partnership is the development of UCP Smart Campus 4.0. The Campus aims to create a rich experience and optimal study environments, providing students, staff and partners with world-class technology to boost the development of technical and entrepreneurial skills. Contributing to the University’s international recognition, the innovative Campus will reinforce its tech credentials.  
 
The University plans to utilise Cisco’s Networking Academies curriculum to foster knowledge and adoption of new and innovative technology, facilitating the entrepreneurial activities of students to participate in pilot experiments on areas related to IoT, Industry 4.0 and Cybersecurity.  
 
Of the partnership, Isabel Capeloa Gil, Vice-Chancellor of Universidade Catolica Portuguesa, said: “Our partnership with Cisco demonstrates our shared ambition to evolve existing education practices and curricula, developing digital skills and using digitisation for the benefit of our students.
