UCP2 Mental Health strengthens second semester with new workshops for students and teachers

The second semester kicks off with news at UCP2 Mental Health, which presents a renewed plan of activities aimed at promoting mental health and strengthening academic well-being at the Universidade Católica. The initiatives are aimed at national and international students, as well as university faculty.

As part of the Mental Health Literacy and Psychological First Aid Workshops, this semester's content invites students to reflect on communication and toxic relationships, digital literacy, and social anxiety. The sessions take place in person at the Porto, Braga, and Viseu campi, as well as online, and are open to all students.

Recognizing that adapting to a new country can be a significant challenge, online workshops in English will also be promoted, addressing topics such as mental health, psychological first aid for panic attacks, and acculturation stress, aimed at all international students at the institution.

Teachers also play a central role in this program, conducting online workshops that address topics such as performance anxiety in students and crisis intervention, highlighting their importance as active agents in promoting healthy academic environments that are attentive to students' needs.

The first year of the academic program receives special attention through the UCP2 Be Program, available in the form of a course unit or extracurricular activity. The program promotes the development of soft skills and the transition to higher education and will be available to all first-year students at the Braga and Viseu campi, as well as to students at the Católica Porto Business School and the School of Biotechnology in Porto. In Lisbon, first-year students at the headquarters and the Faculty of Medicine will be able to participate in the Socio-Emotional Toolkit – Cycle of Workshops, in online format.

Academic stress management remains a priority, with the second edition of the Pro•Stress Course open to all Católica students.

All UCP2 Mental Health initiatives are developed in close collaboration with students through the UCP Students' Voices advisory panel, reinforcing a participatory approach centered on the academic community.
