Sérgio Vasques hired by the UN

Sérgio Vasques, coordinator of the Master's in Tax Law at the Católica | Lisbon School of Law, was hired by the United Nations (UN) as an expert in the area of tax reform in developing countries.

Over the past few years, Sérgio Vasques has been advising on tax reforms in several African countries. Among other recent projects, he has participated in the implementation of VAT in Guinea-Bissau and e-commerce taxation in Cape Verde, collaborating regularly with the World Bank, IMF and African regional organisations.

Through its agencies, the UN supports developing countries' reform efforts to mobilise tax revenue, sustain their public finances and integrate their economies into international value chains.

Universidade Católica holds international conference to discuss human rights
The initiative marked the 75th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights and the 25th anniversary of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. With sessions in Lisbon and Porto, the event was attended by leaders of European institutions such as the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union.
