Professor Ana Jorge reappointed as Dean of the Faculdade de Teologia
"Today is a happy day for the Faculdade de Teologia". This is how the Rector of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Isabel Capeloa Gil, began her speech at the inauguration ceremony of the new Board of the Faculdade de Teologia.
Professor Ana Jorge was reappointed as Dean of the Faculdade de Teologia, this Thursday, December 9, in a ceremony at the Eduardo Coelho Library, at the UCP headquarters in Lisbon, where the members of the Faculty Board of Directors were also appointed.
The Rector of UCP thanked and highlighted the work of the Faculty Board during the previous mandate and the "dedication not only to this noble cause of theological education at the Universidade Católica, but of service to the community and the Church".
"With dedication, diplomacy and great wisdom, Professor Ana Jorge and her Board carried out very important reforms in her first mandate", recalled Isabel Capeloa Gil, referring to the "statutory change that reformed this academic unit into a national faculty" and the "reform of the study cycles in Theology and Religious Sciences".
The assistant professor of the Faculdade de Teologia began her first term as director on December 13, 2018, and was now reappointed.
"Running a faculty is the work of a team", Ana Jorge began by saying, thanking "all the colleagues from the previous direction for the work done together, for the perseverance and solidarity shown".
During the ceremony, António Belo Canavarro, Alexandre Palma and Luís Figueiredo Rodrigues (Vice-directors) and Adélio Abreu, Alfredo Teixeira, Joaquim Félix de Carvalho, and Isidro Lamelas (Coordinators) were appointed.
Also present was the High Chancellor of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, D. Manuel Clemente, who recalled the importance of the Faculdade de Teologia continuing to progress as a reference faculty, both in Portugal and internationally.
"In the next three years, we will serve the faculty and the university with creativity," Ana Jorge assured. "We are certain that theology broadens the capacity to see the world, expands the present, opens horizons of meaning and knowledge," she concluded.
