Last episode of the second season of MindCast looks at the ‘Impostor Syndrome’, with Filipa Jardim da Silva
MindCast, the Universidade Católica Portuguesa podcast focussing on mental health and emotional well-being, comes to the end of its second season with a new episode dedicated to Impostor Syndrome.
The guest is Filipa Jardim da Silva, clinical psychologist, director of the Transformar academy and author of the book Impostor Syndrome. In conversation with host Sofia Torneiro, we explore this psychological phenomenon that affects thousands of people, often in silence, including highly competent students and professionals.
The talk discusses the main signs of imposter syndrome, the difference between common insecurity and this persistent pattern, the influence of culture, education and the pressure to ‘do it all’, as well as the impact on academic performance, career and mental health. Practical strategies for overcoming this limiting feeling are also shared.
The episode closes the second season with a reflection on the way we look at success, competence and self-validation. An essential listen for anyone who has ever felt like a ‘fraud’, even when the facts say otherwise.
