“I want to enjoy everything that Católica has to offer me”: a lot of energy and enthusiasm in the new Psychology students
“Leaving the comfort zone” and “taking advantage of all the activities and opportunities that the Universidade Católica offers” are some of the wishes of the new Psychology Degree student, Carolina Magalhães, who attended the welcome session promoted by the Faculty of Education and Psychology (FEP) of the Porto Regional Centre of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
"Be welcome! Entering the faculty is the beginning of a transformative stage for you, but also for the faculty”: these were the first words of Raquel Matos, director of FEP, to new undergraduate students.
The welcoming session, which took place on the 8th of September, was marked by the enthusiasm and energy of the approximately 80 students who attended. Mariana Duarte, also a new Psychology student, shared that “there is a lot of enthusiasm”, that she is “very satisfied with her choice” and that she hopes to “extend her horizons and explore everything the university has”.
“You will leave a mark on the college. It is with great enthusiasm, expectation, energy and emotion that we welcome you”, said Raquel Matos. To the new students, the director of the college also left a piece of advice: “Bring interest, curiosity, desire to know and always know more. Truly enjoy campus life.”
The session continued and also included the intervention of Alexandra Carneiro, teacher and coordinator of the degree: “Here we expect nothing less than your best.”
After this session ended, the students were invited to meet at the Ilídio Pinho Auditorium to participate in a moment of meeting between all the students of the different degrees at Católica, where scholarships and merit awards were also awarded. This general reception session included the intervention of Isabel Braga da Cruz, Pro-Rector of the Porto Regional Centre, who began by congratulating all the new students for entering higher education and for choosing the Universidade Católica Portuguesa: “We want you to take away from this university experience the best advantage of the formation and experience that the Católica offers you.” The Pro-Rector also added that at Católica all students “have the opportunity to walk a path that will lead them to make a difference, not only as professionals, but also and essentially as people.”
