Faculty of Law launches new postgraduate programme in Elder Law
The Faculty of Law - Porto School announces the opening of a new Postgraduate Programme in Elder Law. This course aims to train professionals to solve problems faced by the elderly population and promote their rights and dignity, which are sometimes forgotten by society.
Inspired by educational programmes at US universities and in view of the growing ageing population in Portugal, which brings specific challenges that require an effective legal response, this new postgraduate course will seek to address issues such as asset management, protection from abuse and understanding tax and social security laws, areas that require in-depth and integrated study.
With a teaching load of 95 hours, the course will be taught in a face-to-face format, allowing for direct and enriching contact between students and lecturers specialising in the field. The training aims to equip lawyers, jurists, social workers, social animators, gerontologists, psychologists and general practitioners with the relevant skills to carry out their duties.
Applications are open until 27 June (1st phase), and more information can be found on the following website.
