3rd edition of the Basic Life Support Workshop

On 5 March, the Student Associations of Universidade Católica Portuguesa at its headquarters in Lisbon joined forces with the Capacitar para Salvar Project, the School of Nursing and the Academic Federation of Lisbon to promote the 3rd edition of the Basic Life Support (BLS) workshop.

The initiative was attended by around 50 students from different fields of study, who had the opportunity to learn and practise various fundamental life-saving techniques. Among the topics covered were the Chain of Survival, the Basic Life Support algorithm, the recovery position and dislodging techniques.

More than just technical training, the workshop sought to reinforce the student associations' commitment to civic responsibility. By training students from different courses, the initiative contributes to creating an academic community that is better prepared and more confident to act in emergency situations.

In cases of cardiopulmonary arrest, response time is crucial. The presence of trained citizens on site can make the difference between life and death, making this type of training particularly relevant.
