Nursing School (Lisbon) organises a Professional Commitment Ceremony

The School of Nursing (Lisbon) at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa is organising the Professional Commitment Ceremony – the Nightingale Pledge – on 3 July at 3.00 pm, which will take place at the Church of São Vicente de Fora.

The ceremony marks a significant milestone in the academic journey of students on the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, symbolising their entry into the profession and the ethical, human and professional commitment inherent in the practice of nursing.

Recognised since the late 19th century as the “Nightingale Pledge”, this professional commitment is inspired by the principles championed by Florence Nightingale and is traditionally taken by future nurses at the start of their professional careers.

In an atmosphere of celebration and reflection, the ceremony will bring together students, lecturers, family members and guests, reinforcing the values of care, responsibility and dedication to serving individuals and the community.
