Estoril Political Forum 2025

The Institute for Political Studies of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (IEP-Católica) is organising the Estoril Political Forum 2025, which will take place from June 4 to 6 at the Palácio do Estoril Hotel.

The central theme will be ‘The Future of Democracy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence’.

This international event brings together academics, policy-makers, diplomats and students to debate the great issues of our time, with special emphasis on the challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence to Democracy, freedom of expression, global geopolitics and the future of Europe.

The Opening Session, led by José Manuel Durão Barroso, will mark the start of a series of panels dedicated to the major issues of our time: Democracy and Artificial Intelligence, Freedom and control of information, Peace in Ukraine and the Middle East, The role of the Global South - with a focus on Brazil and India, and the new paths for Democracy in Africa.

The programme also includes Debates with students, Research Sessions, Thematic Dinners and the Closing Gala with the presentation of the AAIEP Awards.

The Faith and Freedom Award will also be presented on this occasion, and this year's recipient will be Manuel Braga da Cruz.
