Book launch and tribute to Julião Sarmento

The Escola das Artes at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa pays homage to artist  Julião Sarmento with the launch of the book “Julião Sarmento – The Complete Film Works”, at Lux Frágil in Lisbon, in partnership with Sistema Solar - Documenta and Associação Julião Sarmento.

During the session, a selection of the artist's moving image works will be presented and the event also includes the participation of DJs Dexter and Pedro Ramos.

The new book dedicated to Julião Sarmento, edited by Nuno Crespo and designed by Pedro Falcão, brings together all 51 works in motion image that Julião Sarmento produced throughout his career and is edited by CITAR at the Escola das Artes at Universidade Católica Portuguesa and Sistema Solar – Documenta, with texts by Delfim Sardo, CCB administrator responsible for programming, Kerry Brougher, founding director of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, and Chrissie Iles, curator of the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. The book also features a photographic portfolio by Carlos Lobo and an interview by Nuno Crespo and João Pedro Amorim with the artist about his work in moving image.

This book is the result of a collaboration with Julião Sarmento that began in 2017 with the exhibition “Julião Sarmento. Film Works".
