Joana Caldeira, Alumni da UCP, vence Prémio L´Oréal “Mulheres na Ciência”
Joana Caldeira, Alumni da Escola Superior de Biotecnologia da Universidade Católica Portuguesa no Porto foi premiada pela investigação desenvolvida na área da regeneração dos discos intervertebrais, que estão relacionados com a dor lombar.
A investigadora do i3S – Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde da Universidade do Porto pretende utilizar a tecnologia de edição genética CRISPR (CRISPR/Cas9) para alcançar a regeneração dos discos intervertebrais. Joana Caldeira irá recorrer a esta ferramenta para reativar genes típicos do microambiente fetal, com o objetivo de potenciar as atuais terapias regenerativas com células estaminais.
