Vice-Rector participates in international summit on Artificial Intelligence

The Vice-Rector of Universidade Católica and President of the Council for Doctoral Education of the European University Association (EUA-CDE), Peter Hanenberg, will participate in the 2025 Strategic Leaders Global Summit, taking place from 28 to 30 September in Québec, Canada.

The summit will focus on the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies to Support Student Success”, which will be addressed in six panels dedicated to different subtopics. Discussions will include how Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been implemented in universities and how it is reshaping higher education, its impact on student performance and assessment, as well as its use in teaching new skills and generating knowledge, including in doctoral training. In this way, participants will explore the potential applications of AI and other emerging technologies in postgraduate education.

On this same topic, Peter Hanenberg recently published an article dedicated to the challenges of supervision in the context of doctoral education, proposing a deeper reflection on the concept of supervision and the sharing of good practices. In his view, doctoral supervision has often followed an inconsistent path, frequently due to the lack of clear criteria regarding the role supervisors should play.

Entitled “Challenges in Doctoral Supervision”, the text is part of a publication by the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES) “Doctoral Education in Transition: Addressing Challenges for Inspiring Change”.
