Universidade Católica and Fundação Ilídio Pinho sign Collaboration Agreement

Today, 15 January, a Collaboration Protocol between the two institutions was signed by the President of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Isabel Capeloa Gil, and the President of the Ilídio Pinho Foundation, Ilídio Pinho, at the Porto Campus.

This partnership between the Ilídio Pinho Foundation and Católica aims to support the Economy of Francis and Clare Chair initiative, as well as the launch of the Centre for Impact in Global Management, established within the scope of Católica Porto Business School.

‘This partnership with the Ilídio Pinho Foundation represents another significant step in our commitment to training leaders who combine academic excellence with social responsibility. Together, we want to enhance the transformative impact of education and research, creating value for society,’ said Isabel Capeloa Gil at the signing ceremony.

The  Economy of Francesco and Clare Chair was announced by the President of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa during Pope Francis' visit to UCP,  as part of World Youth Day 2023. In honour of the Holy Father, the President explained how the project aims to ‘welcome cross-cutting initiatives in all areas of knowledge at UCP, designed to promote the principles of the Economy of Francis and develop a social model that dignifies people and the environment’.

The Centre for Impact in Global Management is a new general management hub that combines academic knowledge and business practice to support better decision-making in organisational leadership. It is a new centre that will draw on the knowledge and experience of the Católica Porto Business School and mobilise the interdisciplinary skills of the schools that make up the entire UCP.

‘When I am at Católica, I feel at home,’ said Ilídio Pinho, reinforcing his connection to Católica. The president of the Foundation also highlighted the current challenges facing Portugal and the world and stressed that the signing of this protocol demonstrates the alignment between the two institutions in the search for solutions that create real wealth for society.

The Ilídio Pinho Foundation has played a crucial role in social intervention, with a particular impact in the areas of education and assistance, which it intends to reinforce in areas of economic and social relevance, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship and supporting training in particular.

The collaboration protocol signed is valid for the academic years 2026/2027 and 2028/2029.
