Project coordinated by Universidade Católica Portuguesa selects 15 initiatives to accelerate innovation

Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP), as coordinator of the DeepTech Transfer (DTT) project, has announced the 15 innovative projects that will take part in the DeepTech Transfer Competition, an acceleration programme aimed at transforming scientific knowledge into solutions with economic and social impact. The competition received 20 applications from the Northern and Central regions of Portugal.

Over the next 10 months, the 15 selected projects will have access to an acceleration programme that includes specialised mentoring in technology transfer, technical tools and resources, connections with companies, investors and strategic partners, as well as an in-kind prize worth €5,000 in specialised mentoring services. The selected projects feature multidisciplinary teams, primarily from CBQF and CIIS, involving more than 50 researchers.

“The projects now selected in the fields of Agri-Food, Health and Information Technologies demonstrate the high potential of scientific research developed in the Northern and Central regions to generate innovative solutions with market applications,” says João Cortez, Director of the Research and Innovation Office (RIO) at Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

Coordinated by Universidade Católica Portuguesa, the DeepTech Transfer project is funded by COMPETE 2030 through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) (COMPETE2030-FEDER-0145850). The initiative aims to strengthen the transfer of scientific and technological knowledge to the business sector, promoting the valorisation of research results in the fields of Agri-Food Biotechnology, Health and Information Technologies.
