Professor Paulo Pinto de Albuquerque receives medal of honor
The General Council of the Portuguese Bar Association (OA) awarded the OA Medal of Honor to Professor Paulo Pinto de Albuquerque, Professor at the Católica | Lisbon School of Law and Portuguese judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
The distinction comes from his thirty-year career in defending human rights and promoting social justice (1989-2019) and for his service to the Portuguese during his mandate in Strasbourg (2011-2020), especially in favour of the most disadvantaged.
This is the first time that a judge, in the exercise of his duties, has received this medal.
The event will take place on January 9, 2020, at 6 p.m., at OA's headquarters in Lisbon.
