D. José Pedro da Silva Library promotes a Creative Writing Workshop

José Pedro da Silva Library invites the Academic Community to a Creative Writing Workshop, a challenging cultural event that promises to explore the secrets of the art of writing well. This unique experience will be led by the talented writer João de Mancelos, and will take place on January 31st, at 3pm, in the library’s auditorium, with a maximum duration of 1h30.

The Creative Writing Workshop is aimed at all those who, in one way or another, wish to improve their literary skills and explore new techniques of written expression. Whether you're a writing enthusiast or a creative professional, or simply someone looking for an engaging moment dedicated to words, this is the ideal opportunity to sharpen your skills and immerse yourself in the fascinating world of literature.

Participation in the workshop is free, but to guarantee your place, we kindly ask that you register by January 28th at bjps.viseu@ucp.pt.

The number of participants will be limited to 30 to ensure a more personalized and interactive experience those attending.

About the speaker: João de Mancelos was born in Coimbra in 1968. He has published 29 books, from essays to poetry, and fiction. His essays include O marulhar de versos antigos: A intertextualidade em Eugénio de Andrade (2009) and Manual de escrita criativa (2012); in poetry, Luzes distantes, vozes perdidas (2019) and Coração de aluguer (2023); in short stories, A rapariga que adorava finais felizes (2021), part of the National Reading Plan, and Uma canção de amor (2023). The short story What do you feel when the rain falls? was adapted for the cinema in 2020 and won second place in the National Arts Foundation Award (Brazil). In addition to being a writer, João de Mancelos has been teaching in higher education for over 30 years.
