Catolica University launches Solidarity COVID Fund

Católica University of Portugal is launching a solidarity fund to strengthen the existing financial support to vulnerable students, particularly those financially affected by the COVID pandemic. Catolica wants to ensure it anticipates critical support to all families impacted by the current economic implications, ultimately providing the conditions for students to pursue their studies in Higher Education institutions. To this aim, the University’s endowment will set an initial social fund estimated at €150.000,00 available to all students financially affected at Catolica.

Vice-Chancellor Isabel Gil has stated:

“These are unprecedent times and our University’s mission must go beyond providing knowledge and scientific research in the fight against COVID.  At Catolica, we have swift and successfully managed to transit all our classes to remote learning but we must do more.  We also need to come together as a community to help the most affected ones by ensuring our nation’s immediate future as we plan a return to normality.

Catolica has previously assisted over 2250 financially distressed students.
