Universidade Católica strengthens commitment to Sustainability and Innovation at the 2nd ORSIES Academy

As part of Sustainability Day, Universidade Católica Portuguesa took part in the 2nd edition of the Academy of the Observatory for Social Responsibility of Higher Education Institutions (ORSIES). Under the theme “How Artificial Intelligence can drive Sustainability in Higher Education”, the session, held at the University of Coimbra, sparked strategic debates on the role of technology in teaching, institutional management, and the social impact of universities.

The event brought together representatives from several higher education institutions to discuss the challenges and opportunities of AI, and how solutions based on this technology can enhance resource efficiency, environmental monitoring, teaching practices, and community engagement. Representing the Universidade Católica Portuguesa were Isabel Braga da Cruz, Pro-Rector for the Porto campus and for Sustainability, and Marta Vasconcelos, member of the Executive Committee of the Porto Regional Centre.

The participation of Universidade Católica Portuguesa in the ORSIES Academy highlights its commitment to fostering a more sustainable, inclusive, and innovative culture. The University seeks to embed these principles in its policies, daily practices, and community engagement, reinforcing its identity as an institution committed to human and social values. Universidade Católica Portuguesa is one of the founding members of ORSIES.
