Universidade Católica Portuguesa announces donation from the Horta Osório family for the new Veritati Campus

António Horta Osório is a former student of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, where he studied Management, having enrolled in 1981. He also taught on the same degree course and was the first former student of the UCP to be awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the same university in 2022.

This donation, made together with his family, represents a deep and long-standing connection with the University, for which António Horta Osório has profound affection and gratitude.

António Horta Osório says: “The Universidade Católica was where I began my academic and professional career, and where I forged bonds of friendship and knowledge that have stayed with me throughout my life. This donation, made with my family and resulting from the challenge launched by the President, Isabel Capeloa Gil, for whom I have great esteem and trust, is a way of giving back what I received and contributing to the continued training of future generations with the same excellence and the same values and university spirit that influenced me so much.”

The family donation, totalling €1.5 million, from Ana and their children Maria, Margarida and Pedro, in addition to the auditorium on the new Campus named after Ana and António Horta Osório, also includes the future creation of a Chair in Mental Health.

The President of the Universidade Católica, Isabel Capeloa Gil, highlights the importance of this donation for consolidating the Universidade Católica's mission: "This gesture by the Horta Osório family is a decisive contribution to the sustainable and innovative growth of our University, reinforcing UCP's commitment to training responsible leaders who have a positive impact on society", emphasises the President.
