Universidade Católica Portuguesa and Universidade da Madeira sign cooperation protocol
The Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) and the Universidade da Madeira (UMa) signed, on February 18, a cooperation protocol, which was attended by Isabel Capeloa Gil, Rector of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and Sílvio Moreira Fernandes, Rector of the Universidade da Madeira.
The protocol aims to strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions, contributing to the promotion of training projects and enabling the opening of postgraduate programmes in the areas of Political Science and Social Service, with the participation of professors from both institutions. It also foresees institutional collaboration in the Postgraduate programme in Administrative Law, between UCP, UMa and the Conselho Regional da Madeira of Ordem dos Advogados, in which the teaching is the responsibility of UCP.
Isabel Capeloa Gil, Rector of UCP, highlighted, in this ceremony, the importance of signing the protocol, stating that it "consolidates a long-standing relationship between our two institutions, which are linked by personal friendship between professors and researchers, who have collaborated in several areas and in projects, teaching activities, joint programmes of training and academic development". She also highlighted that "universities, especially in the current model of development and production of knowledge, should work in a network, especially in a country of small dimension, but big of heart and with great researchers. We must therefore focus on inter-institutional collaboration so that we can be more competitive in international terms."
Also present at this ceremony were: Elsa Fernandes, Vice-Rector of UMa; Paula Margarido, President of Conselho Regional da Madeira of Ordem dos Advogados; Pedro Telhado Pereira, President of the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais; Helena Rebelo, Coordinator of the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures and Dora Pereira, Coordinator of the Departamento de Psicologia, of the Faculdade de Artes e Humanidades; Germano Marques da Silva, Full Professor of the Faculdade de Direito of UCP; and professor Ricardo Gouveia.
