‘Understanding Suicide": João Francisco Lima shares personal experience in MindCast episode

Mindcast, Católica's mental health podcast, returns this week with an episode that tackles one of the harshest and most silenced realities in our society: suicide.

The guest is João Francisco Lima - founder of the Portuguese start-up MindMatch and ambassador for the international Movember project. With a voice marked by personal experience, João chose to turn pain into a mission, speaking openly about topics that many still avoid.

In this intimate and challenging episode, João reflects on his near suicide experience and how, in that moment of darkness, he found the impetus to act. The conversation goes through the importance of recognising warning signs, verbalising difficult thoughts and dealing with silent grief.

It also addresses the urgent need to deconstruct the myth of male invulnerability - the idea that men must always be strong.

This episode is an invitation to break taboos, to open up space for dialogue and to remember that sometimes saving a life starts with a simple question.
