Transform4Europe Science Café in Braga asks "What Is the Power of Creativity?”

On 14 October 2026, Universidade Católica Portuguesa will bring the Transform4Europe (T4EU) Science Café series to Braga for a special conversation on the power of creativity, featuring Isabel Capeloa Gil, President of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Sergia Adamo, Professor of Comparative Literature and Literary Theory at the University of Trieste, and renowned Portuguese musician Pedro Abrunhosa.

Moderated by Augusto Silva, the Science Café will take place from 18:30 to 19:30 at MUZEU Braga – Thought and Contemporary Art dst, as part of Creativity Week, held from 12 to 16 October.

Under the title “What Is the Power of Creativity?”, the event will examine creativity as a fundamental dimension of human existence and as a driving force behind culture, innovation and social transformation. At a time marked by the rapid development of artificial intelligence, persistent conflicts and the urgent need for more sustainable futures, the discussion will consider whether creativity remains a distinctively human capacity and how it can help societies imagine new and unexplored paths.

The event continues Transform4Europe’s tradition of organising Science Cafés in accessible and culturally significant settings across the Alliance. Rather than following the format of a formal academic lecture, these encounters bring researchers, artists, cultural professionals and members of the public together for open conversation, the exchange of perspectives and critical reflection.

They also strengthen cooperation between universities and GLAM stakeholders – galleries, libraries, archives and museums – recognising these institutions as important spaces for public debate, knowledge exchange and societal engagement.

The previous Transform4Europe Science Café held in Portugal took place in March 2026 at Fundação Livraria Lello, in Porto. Entitled “Heritage as a Bridge: Sustainability, Education and Cross-Cultural Dialogue,” it brought together university and cultural-sector representatives to discuss heritage as a source of shared knowledge, cultural value and intercultural understanding.

By now moving the conversation to MUZEU Braga, Transform4Europe continues to connect academic knowledge with cultural spaces and wider society, creating opportunities for researchers, artists and citizens to jointly reflect on the questions shaping contemporary life.
