Teen Academy: Exploring the World of Nutrition Sciences

The Teen Academy once again delighted high school students who came to the Faculty of Biotechnology to explore Nutrition Sciences in an immersive and practical way.

A Diverse and Enriching Program

Over the course of three days, the young participants had the opportunity to explore various areas within the field of Nutrition Sciences, from the science behind the flavors and aromas of foods to the latest trends in clinical nutrition. The program included practical and theoretical sessions, laboratory visits, and direct contact with professionals in the field.

Held from July 15 to 17, the program was carefully designed to offer a blend of theoretical and practical experiences. On the first day, participants were welcomed with a session exploring the flavors and aromas of foods, followed by an activity on the science and art of food preparation. The day ended with a shared lunch, where students had the chance to taste the dishes they had prepared earlier, focusing on developing recipes that were delicious, healthy, and sustainable.

The second day focused on specific areas of Nutrition. Students delved into the "amazing world of Sports Nutrition", discovering how nutrition can optimize athletic performance. The morning continued with a session on the latest trends in Clinical Nutrition, providing participants with an updated overview of practices and innovations in the field.

The third and final day was dedicated to a visit to a fish canning factory, where the head of the innovation and development department is a nutritionist. This allowed students to observe the sector's operations up close and understand the practical applications of the concepts they had learned.

Positive Feedback and Future Editions

The Teen Academy proved to be an essential platform for fostering young people's interest in Nutrition Sciences, offering them a clear and practical view of the different career paths this course can lead to. The Faculty of Biotechnology thanks all participants and collaborators for their dedication and enthusiasm and looks forward to future editions.

The Summer Academy was met with great enthusiasm by the participants, who described the experience as “extremely enriching” and “inspiring.” The opportunity to interact directly with professionals in the field and explore Nutrition Sciences concepts in a fun and practical manner was particularly appreciated, providing valuable insight for future nutritionists.
