Statement

In recent days, racist and xenophobic content has been posted on social networks in a group that identifies itself as 'UCP Direito' and in no way reflects positions of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa or endorsed by it. The group abusively uses the institutional designation, although some of its members may be students of the institution. The content is strongly detrimental to the principles of the UCP Code of Ethics and Conduct, which all members of the academic community are obliged to comply with, constituting an attack on the dignity of the human person.

UCP has opened an internal disciplinary process to investigate the responsibility of students in abusing the name of the institution as an identifier for the dissemination of unworthy content. Likewise, it will submit a complaint to the Public Prosecutor's Office for the crime of racial discrimination.
