A Solidarity Meeting between CAIS Magazine and the Universidade Católica Portuguesa

On 3 July, the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) welcomed João Galveia, the current Coordinator of the Communications, Marketing and Fundraising Department of CAIS Magazine. During the visit, João Galveia, a UCP alumnus, presented Rita Paiva e Pona, the Rector's Advisor for Social Responsibility and Coordinator of the Social Responsibility Office, with a set of magazines commemorating the organisation's 30th anniversary, to mark the strengthening of the close relationship between CAIS and our University.

"The celebrations kicked off with the opening of a very special project - the CAIS Museum. With a 100% digital component, developed with the support of BAR Ogilvy, it is possible to visit the history of the Association through 30 objects / stories, which mark its existence and that of those who have built a second chance after seeking support at CAIS," explained João Galveia.

In his speech, João Galveia also highlighted another milestone of CAIS's 30th anniversary celebrations: "To celebrate 30 years, CAIS has developed a series of initiatives that bring the institution even closer to the Portuguese. The ambitious project called PodCAIS, a podcast featuring various public figures, due to be launched in July, is one of the milestones in the year-long celebrations."

CAIS magazine is known for its charitable causes, covering a wide variety of topics. It's a publication whose cover price reverts 70 per cent to the seller, directly benefiting people in situations or at risk of economic and social deprivation. From September, the magazine will be available for sale at the UCP Stationery Office, allowing the university community to contribute and support this cause.

Talking about the trajectory of CAIS, João Galveia didn't hide his pride in the work done. "To date, it has directly supported more than 18,000 people. Our partners are a fundamental pillar on this path throughout our 30 years of life and in the decades to come", said João Galveia, emphasising the importance of collaboration and ongoing support.

As well as taking part in Service-Learning projects, João Galveia's visit was also an opportunity to discuss the activities to be developed over the next academic year. The partnership with Projeto VIDA-Voluntariado na Católica promises to bring new possibilities of involvement for students, giving them the opportunity to actively participate in initiatives that promote citizenship and social responsibility.

Universidade Católica Portuguesa invites its entire community to get to know and support CAIS Magazine, available from the Stationery Shop from September. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a story of transformation and to contribute to a more inclusive and supportive future.
