Psychology students develop podcasts

The development of a podcast, based on the Psychology of Organization and Human Resources Development was the final challenge of the optional subject "Contemporary Challenges of Work and Labour Relations" of the 3rd year of the Degree in Psychology of Faculty of Education and Psychology of Porto Regional Centre, of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

The challenges of telework and the "uberization" of work were the themes developed in the final works of this subject that provides the contact of students with professionals and researchers, as well as with the most recent academic works produced nationally and internationally.

Filipa Sobralcourse professor, explains that the objective is that "students learn about the contribution of Psychology in promoting the quality of life and well-being of workers in the workplace, given the constant challenges that organisations, and consequently, labour relations, are facing". Embracing innovation and experimentation with new pedagogical practices, the classes of this discipline are, in the words of one student, "work meetings".

During classes, students will watch lectures and videos of guest speakers who will share their experiences with them and develop autonomous practice skills in the collection, processing and analysis of qualitative data in order to understand in greater detail the contours of certain themes/phenomena and how they contribute, or not, to the promotion of quality of life and well-being of workers in a work context. At the end of the semester it is expected that, based on different themes, students will produce a podcast which is the result of the work developed and the skills acquired.
