Power, Together | President of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa honoured at the World Summit of Women Leaders in Reykjavic

The President of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP), Isabel Capeloa Gil, took part for the second time in the major world summit Reykjavík Global Forum - Women Leaders, from 10 to 12 November, which also counted with the presence of Halla Tomasdóttir, President of Iceland.

At this international gathering of women leaders, Isabel Capeloa Gil received the Mary Robinson Foundation's Women for Climate Justice award from Mary Robinson, Ireland's first female president.

Launched in 2018 under the title Power, Together, the Reykjavík Global Forum brings together women leaders from all sectors, with the aim of sharing ideas and solutions on how to move society towards equality and positively promote and develop the number of women in leadership positions.

This year's summit identified four critical action points: Equal representation, Equal Pay, Equal Parental Leave and Ending Based Gender Violence, which, based on Iceland's successful political models, have contributed to greater equality between men and women.

Among the hundreds of women present were personalities such as Halla Tómasdóttir, President of Iceland, Hillary Clinton (Secretary of State of the United States of America between 2009 and 2013), Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic (President of Croatia between 2015 and 2020), Katrin Jakobsdóttir (Prime Minister of Iceland between 2017 and 2024).

José Manuel Durão Barroso, President of the European Commission between 2004 and 2014, a lecturer at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa was also present.
