Pedro Melo elected coordinator of NANDA-I Network Group Portugal for the biennium 21-23

Pedro Melo, professor at the School of Nursing, of Instituto de Ciências da Saúde in Oporto at Universidade Católica Portuguesa was  elected coordinator of NANDA-I Network Group Portugal for the biennium 21-23.

NANDA-I is an international association focused on being a global force for the development and use of standardised nursing terminology to ensure the safety of individuals, families and communities through evidence-based care. Headquartered in Wisconsin, United States of America, Executive Director is T. Heather Herdman. Among the various structures within the organization, there are several Network Groups representing various countries in the Association's international network. Portugal is one of the countries that integrate this network.


Among the various objectives for the mandate are:

  • To contribute to the development of NANDA-I's taxonomy II, through:
     
    • The adaptation and validation of Nursing Diagnostics for Portuguese;
    • The development of research on the factors that influence the accuracy of diagnoses;
    • Developing new diagnostics.
       
  • Promoting the development of relevant concepts for diagnosis classifications, interventions and results.
  • Organize an international scientific meeting on research in the field of classification of diagnoses, interventions and results.

As part of the celebrations marking 20 years of the Doctorate in Nursing, the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing (FCSE) is marking a significant milestone: the renaming of the Nursing Merit Scholarship to the Margarida Vieira Scholarship, in honor of Professor Margarida Vieira, founder and driving force behind this distinction.
