Open applications for ‘Letters, Heritage, Identities’ T4EU event in Bulgaria

Applications are open until January 10 for another Transform4Europe event aimed at PhD students, postdocs, and researchers. The ‘Letters, Heritage, Identities Roundtable & Matchmaking Event’ focuses on identity, cultural heritage, and the intersections between writing systems and will be held at the University of Sofia, in Bulgaria, from January 28 to 30, 2025.

The event encompasses four initiatives to foster interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers.

The 'Letters, Heritage, Identities Roundtable' will bring together young and experienced researchers dealing with matters related to cultural, linguistic, supranational, national, ethnic, etc. identities. Together, they will explore the ways arts and media in general (including literature, visual arts, social media, etc.) as well as historical and contemporary narratives shape perceptions of self and otherness.

The 'Matchmaking Talks' sessions will bring together students, faculty, and researchers working on cultural heritage and innovation. Participants will be able to get to know each other further and to form collaborative teams for future projects in the fields of history and heritage studies, cultural and media studies, literature, multilingualism, political studies, library and information studies and arts.

The 'Glagolitic Alphabet Workshop' will focus on the connections between writing systems, cultural heritage, and identity, examining the theme from various perspectives, including linguistics, history, cultural studies, and the arts and will have two strands. One of the strands is specially designed for students of arts and graphic design.

Together with the workshop, a Stakeholder Challenge will be held, in which students and young researchers from the partner universities will participate. This innovative challenge will directly connect the stakeholders with young people, to offer a concrete solution for an issue presented by the stakeholders of the event – the St. Cyril and Methodius National Library and NALIS (National Academic Library and Information System). The participants will work in collaboration with a mentor during the problem-solving phases of the challenge.
