Isabel Capeloa Gil, President of Universidade Católica Portuguesa and President of the International Federation of Catholic Universities (FIUC), gave an interview to EWTN News (Washington, DC) directly from Rome, where the FIUC conference took place on the 4th and 5th of November with the theme: “New Frontiers for University Leaders: The Future of Health and the University Ecosystem”.

During the morning of November 4th, Pope Francis welcomed the participants of this conference, where the importance of these institutions have in preparing younger generations to become the “protagonists of the common good, creative leaders and leaders of social and civil life with a correct view of man and the world” was noted.

The President of UCP, during the interview with EWTN News, addressed the Pope’s speech as well as her main goals as President of the International Federation of Catholic Universities.

The Rector of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Fr. Anderson Pedroso, SJ, visited the Portuguese Catholic University, where he was received by the Rector, Isabel Capeloa Gil. The meeting reinforced the ties of academic and institutional cooperation between the two Catholic universities. The visit preceded the launch of the book "Towards a Poetics of Creativity. The Concept of Art in Vilém Flusser," which will take place on 3 November at Brotéria in Lisbon.
